Hydrogen Hub welcomes trade delegation from Osaka
The Hydrogen Hub were delighted to welcome a trade delegation from Osaka, Japan to Swindon on 7 March as part of a visit organised by Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce to strengthen ties between the regions. The delegation visited the Honda plant, had a tour of the manufacturing site and the hydrogen refuelling station and test drove the new Honda Clarity that recently arrived in the UK. In addition they visited the Johnson Matthey Fuel Cell manufacturing site where components that can be found in thousands of fuel cell products around the world are developed and manufactured. This was a great opportunity for the Swindon Hydrogen Hub to build relationships with a region that has such a strong track record in deployment of hydrogen and fuel cell technology. Kevin Fothergill, Hydrogen Hub Chairman, addressed the delegation at the evening reception and spoke of the UK’s need to learn from the Japanese as they lead the way in technology deployment.
Clare Jackson, Hydrogen Hub Manager said “It was an honour to welcome such a prestigious trade delegation to Swindon. We are pleased that Osaka and Thames Valley have identified Hydrogen and Fuel Cell technologies as a key area for collaboration and look forward to working with both the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry to build relationships and share learnings.”
